Because Pa Lia's First Day was the first of the Jackson Friends books, creating the right cover for it, also meant creating a prototype for the next books in the series. I loved the feel of this sketch, but it didn't work for the other books.
I have never knit any of the caps or mitten patterns from this vintage knitting collection. It's this cover that excites me. I love it as an illustration -- reminding me of my childhood and winter afternoons spent sledding down the hills at the Frear Park golf course in Troy, New York.
